Who remembers a time before the world was flooded with graze boards on their Insta feeds? The first time I saw a full on, awesome graze display was on Instagram (of course) and was a foodie feast for the eyes by @grapeandfig These ladies were at the forefront of the UK grazing phenomenon and their work is stunning.
Here’s a little excerpt from their website:
GRAPE & Fig - the first grazing catering company in the UK - was founded by Toria Smith in 2017. Her initial inspiration came whilst planning her wedding the previous year, when she quickly realised there was a huge gap in the market when it came to wedding food. Instead of stuffy and expensive canapés, Toria wanted to feed her guests with a four metre-long grazing table (full of the finest cheeses, cured meats, antipasti, dips and accompaniments) which would serve as canapés and starters combined.
At this time, the ‘grazing craze’ was huge in Australia (which she’d seen first hand in Byron Bay in 2013 whilst travelling) but hadn’t yet made its way to the UK. So starting with her wedding she introduced grazing to the UK and her initial passion project gained incredible momentum and has grown into the brand that is now loved and adored - GRAPE & Fig.
In Spring 2019 Toria welcomed her sister Catherine into the business and the pair have since taken the business to the next level with a new focus on diversifying the concept of ‘edible art’ into a stunning selection of products.
Adored by celebrities, global brands and gathering-lovers alike, we won’t be beaten on quality, attention to detail or value.
And since 2017 the craze for grazing in the UK has exploded!
There are lots of businesses popping up with grazing options and local to me in East Anglia are the fantastic @dustwithcocoa headed by Debbie, who started off making wedding cakes like me and then took the dessert table trend to another level by creating hugely indulgent dessert grazing displays.
Dust With Cocoa offers “Luxe food with tablescape styling”
Sweet and Savoury Grazing Tables which are the ultimate show-stopper, and the latest trend in the UK wedding scene. Whether it's a relaxed boho vibe or a decadent alternative to a formal wedding breakfast, nothing brings together incredible food and floral styling like this.
Debbie has added savoury grazing to her sweet offerings in her sister company Feast & Flourish
And there’s a new business on the local scene called Hire & Style Sisters Set up by one of my brides from last year, Casey and her sister Kelly have just styled a delicious looking graze table which just so happened to be accompanied by a tasty buttercream celebration cake by me!
So how do you fancy having a go at building your own grazing table? Or perhaps start off small with a grazing platter or graze gift box? The perfect date night snacking or a treat for parties and picnics.
